PAWS, short for Philippine Animal Welfare Society is in need of volunteers. There’s so much you can do for the animals. A little time will go a long way in helping those poor animals. Here’s actually some of the things you can do:

1. Office Assistant – The task is pretty simple and mostly is about paper works like processing adoption applications. Other functions would be to receive guests and tell them about the different programs offered by the organization, of course answering phone queries is also another task.
2. Admitting – You will be involved in rescue operations and will be instrumental in completing the operation by processing admitting papers, taking pictures and uploading details in the animal database.
3. Direct Animal Care – Tasks involved would be to walk the dogs or play with the cats, socialize them to increase their chances of being adopted, bathing the animals and feeding them. Task also includes medicating them.
4. Adoption Team – Bloggers are tapped to provide more exposure to increase the chances of having the animals adopted.
5. Match Maker – Those who volunteers to do match-making needs to carefully consider the animals disposition and the lifestyle of the would-be pet owners to ensure that the animals will not be returned.
6. Adoption Follow-up – The main function is to ensure that the animals are being given proper care by their new owners.

There’s a total of 19 tasks you can volunteer to take on, the ones I mentioned are just some. Please check out PAWS site for further details on the other volunteer tasks and activities you can sign up for.

And just so you know, this coming February 6, 2010, PAWS will be conducting a volunteers orientation from 10AM – 1PM. Please download an application form at their site if you are interested. You can also refer to their web site for instructions on how to get there. Please bring your own snack and drinking water and P50 for the photocopied manuals.
