Philippine Science Centrum Celebrates 2 Decades of Fun and Learning

Yesterday, February 10, 2010, marks the 20th anniversary of the Philippine Science Centrum. I am glad to have been invited to join the said event. Good thing the venue is just a jeepney ride away from our place. The Philippine Science Centrum is housed at the ECom Building beside the Riverbanks Mall in Marikina.

I arrived at the venue at around 430pm, good thing the program hasn’t started. I was welcomed by their friendly staff. I later on asked them to pose for a picture, they were hesitant at first, but they were kind enough to oblige. :) We waited for a couple more minutes, while some of the people were touring the facility. So while waiting, I took pictures here and there.

Dr. Ceferino Follosco delivering the Opening Remarks

After the prayer and the national anthem, the host called on Dr. Ceferino L. Follosco, an elderly man who gave a talk on the history of Science Centrum. I enjoyed his speech since he loved to tell funny anecdotes here and there. I probably would have enjoyed it more had I clearly heard him. Right before he ended his speech, I saw a fellow blogger who was also with me during the Century Tuna Cooking Challenge, – Alex. It’s nice to see a familiar face, made me feel a lot more comfortable. Together with Alex, are the other bloggers who, like him, had the chance to attend the earlier event. I was supposed to join them but had a nasty stomach ache that morning so I bailed out.

After hearing from a few more speakers, we were finally given the chance to tour the facility. And that is where the real fun began. I felt like a little kid once more, trying to explore this large facility filled with amazing wonders of the world of science. Here are tons of pictures that I took.

Not recommended for people who gets dizzy right away. But it is sure fun to try out with your friends and try to make believe you were running inside. I wasn’t able to take a shot of us inside it, but we had loads of fun staying there for a few minutes.

Trying this out finally made me understand the concept of satellite dish and how we are able to make use of it in the field of communication.

After the festivities and after feasting on a hefty dinner, the day will not be complete without a photo op of the complete cast of bloggers.

When I got home, hubby was thrilled to see the souvenir we were given. Forgot what it’s called though, our helper threw out the box before I could read the inscription on the box.
