The winner of the E Zone’s first blog contest

There were only 8 valid entries, which may be because of my laziness to promote the contest. Anyway, here are the people who joined the contest.

contestants

How did I draw the winner? Went to random.org. I was supposed to sign up for it to have my own account but then again, it was asking me to pay to complete the sign up. So I just opted to go to use their free service by key-ing in the start number and the end number and it’s supposed to generate the random number. And here’s the result.

winnerHere’s the close up version:

winner2So the lucky winner is Mochabliss. I will email you the details on how to claim the prize shortly. Congrats! Thanks for the rest of the people who joined the contest. :) Will have a new one soon.

Off to Quiapo

quiapo

I will be announcing the winner of the ac unit later when we get back from the busy streets of Quiapo. I really don’t want to go, since it’s Friday and well payday, at the same time, the heat is unbelievable. But my mom accidentally dropped her eyeglasses so we need to replace it. And where else can we get cheap prescription glasses but in the bargain haven called Quiapo. So here I am posting a quick update just so you’d know that I’m still here and that I intend to keep my word that I will be announcing the winner of the contest within the day.

Wish us luck folks, hope the heat will be more tolerable. No, I hope it rains. I’d rather that it rain today in Quiapo, never mind the muddy streets. Watch out for the winner later. :)

Weight Loss for Men – Institut Santre

santreThe first time I learned about Institut Santre was when I saw a billboard of Bo Sanchez with the logo of Institut Santre. I was actually under the impression that it was something religious, like a seminary or something. It was only later on when they came up with another billboard of Mr. Sanchez showing off his loose pants that I realized that it was a weight loss center dedicated for men. I bet the programs come with a higher price tag. I was hoping hubby can someday sign up for their programs.

For other budget-challenged, vain men, wanting to loose their beer belly and have a six pack abs, there’s the easy solution of going under the knife or taking fat burning pills. I recently heard about noxycut and I’m currently going through noxycut reviews to find out if it’s a good alternative. Although, of course, exercise and right diet is still the best way to a healthy lifestyle. Anyway, yeah someday, hubby will go to Santre.

Dangers of Taking Unprescribed Diet Pills

PDVD_377

The rate of people who are joining the obese statistics is growing at a daily rate. There is a staggering data that proves that in the US majority of the states reported 30% of their total population are considered obese. Being obese increases risks of having diabetes, hypertension and many other illnesses that is known to send people to an early grave.

Aside from eating junk foods and fast food, which we all know have tons of preservatives, our current sedentary lifestyle is also to blame. We have become addicted to doing things the easier way, which is almost always tantamount to doing things at a click of a button, or without much movement on our part. Take for example the way we used do a simple task like dicing or chopping potatoes. Nowadays, tons of kitchen gadgets had been invented that is capable of doing the task almost one-fourth of the time. The sad truth is, we have all grown to be impatient. As such, the grueling task of getting back in shape has been reduced to popping a pill. Don’t get me wrong, I do not have anything against it. There are some people who really need that. On the other hand, there are dangers involved when people self prescribe or pick diet pills randomly. Read more…

Alpha protein proven to improve infant’s long-term health

Cases of long-term health problems like obesity, cardiovascular ailments, and insulin resistance have been increasing year after year. These have prompted medical professionals to look beyond medical treatments and seek effective preventive measures. Infant nutrition, particularly protein intake during the early stages of infancy, has been identified in strengthening or weakening a person’s long-term health.

Controlled random examinations in preterm and term infants cited by the research paper, “Early origins of cardiovascular disease. Is there a unifying hypothesis?” by Lucas Singhal, proved that “early nutrition has a major impact on long-term health including cognitive function, bone health, and risk factors for cardiovascular disease.”

Dr. Atul Singhal, a professor of Pediatric Nutrition and deputy director of the University College London, explained in a forum that the long-term growth and development of infants depended not just on the quantity of nourishment they receive but on the quality as well. He also heads the Clinical Trials and Cardiovascular Nutrition group at the MRC Childhood Nutrition Research Centre’s Institute of Child Health at University College London, which researched on “The Importance of Protein for Long-term Health.” Read more…

We went to Puregold supermarket in Q Plaza a few days ago, and we were able to buy a booklet of herbal medicines. Mom was pretty happy about the booklet. We got it for only PhP10.00. It has a list of common illnesses with the corresponding herbal plant that’s supposed to cure it. From diarrhea, headache, gall stones, high blood pressure to hemorrhoid treatment, the booklet has lots of information on how to make use of common herbs and turn them into great remedies for these illnesses.

MIA in weddings

I have not been attending weddings for the past few years. The last one I’ve attended was way back in 2002 when one of my home girls in college got married to her US Navy sweetheart. After that, although I wanted to go to weddings, somehow there’s always going to come up and get in the way of me attending the wedding. Partly, I guess I’m too bitter because I didn’t get to have my own dream wedding. (ehem! i wish my husband is reading this. hehe) Perhaps, that’s why I don’t really try my best to attend weddings.

Well, now that I have a little boy, I guess it would be fun to attend weddings. Perhaps when he’s become more compliant. It would be great to dress him up with a barong Tagalog or a coat and tie or just long sleeves. Cool bow ties would also add to the charm of my little darling.

To my friends whose weddings I did not attend, I’ll find a way to make it up to you. Promise. *peace*

Shutter Island Movie Review

shutter-islandLast April 13, Tuesday, I got the chance to watch the advance screening of Leonardo DiCarprio’s latest movie – The Shutter Island, at SM Mall of Asia. I was excited to watch the movie ever since I saw its trailer. I was actually under the impression that it was a horror flick.

The movie  is set in 1954 and is all about US Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) who was assigned a case in Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He, together with his new junior partner, Chuck Aula (Mark Ruffalo) were tasked to uncover the mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of one of the hospital’s female patients. The hospital is a facility created by the government to contain the most violent and dangerous mentally insane criminals.

Hang up over A Walk to Remember

a walk to rememberI watched A Walk to Remember in the big screen some years ago, I think more than five years ago and it’s still on the top of my list of most romantic movies. Okay, I’m a big fan of Mandy Moore so that’s a plus. But aside from that, I also like their team up. Shayne West did a great job in playing a typical jock, who later on found himself madly in love with the girl he’s least likely to fall for. Mandy Moore on the other hand was very versatile. Note that this was just her second movie, the first movie she was casted was Princess Diaries where she played the part of Anne Hathaway’s mean girl classmate. Watching her play the role of the pastor’s daughter was a breath of fresh air, very far from the image I have of her singing “Candy” and “Crush”. Read more…
