I watched A Walk to Remember in the big screen some years ago, I think more than five years ago and it’s still on the top of my list of most romantic movies. Okay, I’m a big fan of Mandy Moore so that’s a plus. But aside from that, I also like their team up. Shayne West did a great job in playing a typical jock, who later on found himself madly in love with the girl he’s least likely to fall for. Mandy Moore on the other hand was very versatile. Note that this was just her second movie, the first movie she was casted was Princess Diaries where she played the part of Anne Hathaway’s mean girl classmate. Watching her play the role of the pastor’s daughter was a breath of fresh air, very far from the image I have of her singing “Candy” and “Crush”.

Two days ago, somebody from plurk, mentioned that he’s watching the said movie. And so here I am posting an entry about one of favorite movies of all time, before I watch it all over again. But first why the hang up?

1.) I love the scene when Jaimee asked Landon to promise her that he will not fall in love with her, before she agrees to help him with his lines.

2.) I’m forever fascinated at the expression on Landon’s face when he saw Jaimee take off her cloak during the school play, and of course when he kissed her after she sang the song “Only Hope”.

3.) I love the confrontation that followed the day after the play when Landon looked for Jaimee in the cafeteria to tell her he misses her. More so, I like the scene when Jaimee fleed when she was speechless when Landon said she’s afraid that she wants to be with him too.

4.) Romance is not overrated. The time when Landon built Jaimee a larger telescope, when he gave her a new sweater, when he named a star after her, it was all so romantic. Add to that the scene when he went out of his way to actually learn how to dance.

5.) And of course, who can forget the scene when Jaimee became the laughing stock of the school because of an edited photo of her, and Landon was right there at the right time to stand up for her in front of everybody, even his friends.

6.) Finally, the part when Landon gathered all his guts to ask Jaimee’s dad to give her permission to go out with him. That’s truly a winner!

I actually read the book and there are some things that were changed in the film. While most people are disappointed when a movie deviates from the actual story on the book, I actually like the movie better than the book. Well, I guess that’s it for now. It’s late and I’ll be watching A walk to remember before I doze off.
