Battle Against the Bulge

A friend of mine who was desperate about gaining weight did gain weight when she bought a medicine from Chinese drug stores in Binondo, some time in 2006. She swears by the medicine and even our other colleagues who bought it also gained weight and were happy. I wish I have the same problem. Unfortunately, I’m at the other end of the spectrum. Despite their raving comments about medicines they bought from these Chinese drug stores, I’m still very hesitant to buy diet pills on those stores. Not because I’m discriminating them or I have anything pejorative about Chinese people or Chinese products. I guess losing weight is just more complicated as compared to gaining weight, thus my reservations.

I guess there’s really no short cut when it comes to losing weight the healthy way. Dang! It really means strictly adhering to your diet and exercise routines. One word: Discipline. Tsk, where do I buy that again?

Insurance reinstatement

sunlife insuranceI found a letter from my insurance provider this afternoon when we got home from our site tripping in Cavite. I could immediately tell that it was a business letter from the looks of the envelope. You know how plain-looking, cold and detached business envelopes and letters could look like. The letter was a reminder for me to have my policy reinstated. I just hope they have an online feature where I can just key in my policy number and I can have all the digits generated, like the late fees and other incremental charges that may come along with it. As for prospective customers, perhaps it’ll be cool to just key in their net income or perhaps their desired returns in the future, with the site giving them the life insurance rates in just a matter of minutes, or perhaps seconds. ;)

Well, anyway, hope I could reinstate my policy.

Air-conditioner clean up

I guess we ought to have our air conditioner units cleaned up again. Not sure when exactly we had it last cleaned up, but it was just early this year, just have to check on the receipt. We’re actually very faithful when it comes to calling the aircon cleaners. Normally, we call them every three months, longest interval would be 5 to 6 months. As for the filters, we normally take it off and wash it every 2 weeks, sometimes weekly.

The heat is really unbearable these days. You guys might want to have your units checked and cleaned up. As for those of you who live on the other side of the globe, I say you better check your furnace filters, better yet, have your furnaces cleaned up. ;)

Save the Earth – Re-cycle

RecyclingAfter experiencing nature’s fury first hand last year with our Typhoon Ketsana experience, we became more conscious of doing our share in saving the environment. Personally, I tried to steer away in using too much plastic bags. My SM cloth bag became my constant market companion. The plastic bags we have are mostly recycled for cleaning up dog poop.

It’s great that a lot of green study is being conducted nowadays. Aside from campaign awareness on recycling, we could all use help in trying to find ways and means to preserve our environment. I certainly don’t want to experience another Ketsana.

Raffle it is

random-orgWith much thinking and with the comments that made in time, plus the opinion of a lone sponsor ;) we have decided to do raffle for the contest instead. Although it is very much tempting to resort to the point system, I myself have decided not to join some contest because I find it way too complicated. On the other hand, now that I am the one having the contest, I realized just how tedious it’s going to be. So just test your luck people and join the contest, just make sure you link all three blogs and blog as to why you want to win the AC.

Good luck :)

Dreaming of a Home Massage

massageI went to Ortigas this afternoon and on my way home, to cut the travel time, I decided to take a different route. Instead of getting off at Junction, I alighted at the C-5 and Ortigas intersection and took a jeepney ride going to Eastwood. Took a tricycle at Calle Industria bound to Manggahan and took 2 more tricycle rides going home. Quite a bit expensive but cuts the travel time by half.

Anyway, while I was walking along Manggahan road in Pasig, I saw a new Spa. It was quite intriguing when I saw their flyer. They have spa covers or hot tub covers. Very interesting. But I’m not the type to get a massage on such establishments, not because I’m paranoid, but simply because I always end up sleeping and well, snoring to be honest. hehe :p So I’m a fanatic of home massage. Been trying to resist myself from calling my favorite therapist for weeks now. And as if life wants to torture me, I saw that spa today. (Sigh) Oh well must resist some more.

Jollibee 39ers Beef and Mushroom

39ersHad a hearty Jollibee meal yesterday after the first leg of our site tripping at Cavite. The meal was very satisfying considering that we had a late lunch at 3pm. Actually prior to that, we were supposed to go eat at another fast food chain outside of SM Molino, since the kids we had in tow were asking to eat at the rival food chain. But then again, looks like the oldies favored our home grown food chain so we ended up eating at Jollibee instead.

Despite the fact that it was already past lunch time, the place remains packed and we found ourselves lining up on queue along with other people who are looking for a quick and satisfying meal. Good thing, ordering has become so much faster this time with the food chains’ up to date cash registers, each of which comes with a little epson receipt printer. So in a matter of minutes, we happily chowed down our beef and mushroom, which is deliciously juicy and flavorful. :)

Allergies galore

childhood-allergies

I’m one unfortunate person when it comes to allergens, I have allergic rhinitis and I have this unusual allergic reaction to the common kinds of pain relievers – paracetamol, ibuprofen and mefanamic acid. The allergic rhinitis is something that is also bothersome most of the time, after waking up and before going to bed, it’s pretty common to see me sneezing and blowing my nose. Because of that, going out of town on trips with friends requires me to bring tons of tissue rolls every time. And it doesn’t help if the bed smells rather old. We had the misfortune of being given a mattress that smells like it has been locked up in an attic for centuries, back in one of our trips in Galera. Good thing it was replaced right away.

Now that I found out that I have asthma all the more that I realized that I have to take these allergies more seriously. I’m currently praying for an AC unit that has purifier and it’s rather tempting to look up allergy bedding as well. But well budget is tight these days, so that’ll have to wait. Anyway, since we’re very faithful in our daily cleaning perhaps that should suffice for now.

National Geographic’s Earth Day Run

natgeo earh run

In an effort to save the environment by raising awareness for climate change, National Geographic Channel partners with Design Against the Elements, for the Earth Run 2010 project. When I got the call for a bloggers meet, I wasn’t thinking of actually joining the run. But then when I got there and as I listened to Jude Turcuato, Nat Geo’s Territory Director – and ELac Diaz of Design Against the Elements’ as they talked passionately about their partnered advocacy; for the first time, I actually got to convince myself to join and run.

Earth Day Run will feature 3k, 5k and 10k races. Entry fees are PhP500 (3K), Php600 (5K), and PhP700 (10k), inclusive of a limited Earth Day Run technical shirt. Earth Day run will be held on April 18, 2010, starting at 5am at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. Read more…
