Izzie is my husband’s colleague at his previous and current employment. She used to be overweight. Two months ago, I learned that she is undergoing detoxification. The process was something that was imposed on her by her dad. I actually wanted to go through the same thing but it is quite expensive so I guess I’ll pass. Anyway looking at Izzie’s current picture, you could tell right away she lost more or less 30 lbs. When I asked her for quick weight loss tips, here are the things that she told me: Read more…

MY ZOOBIC SAFARI EXPERIENCE

photo credits from Mekinudols.info and Marriageandbeyond.com
Last May 15, my fellow bloggers and I trooped to Zoobic Safari. We left Makati around 7am and got there 2 hours after. We were welcomed with a sumptuous breakfast. After which were right away treated to an amazing animal show. The said show features 4 poodles, 3 of which are trained to dance the waltz, one of the 3 is capable of dancing Tinikling, while the other one plays the piano organ. It was later on followed by 2 monkeys, one showcasing his ability to dunk and shoot some hoops while the other one is capable of riding a miniature horse and fence at the same time. Read more…
THE DANGERS OF SMOKING

Smoking is dangerous to your health, this is printed on cigarette boxes. And yet despite the warning people smoke anyway. I live with a smoker – my husband. There had been many occasions when he promised to kick off the habit, but failed. Hopefully, this time around he will be able to follow through with his promise. I’m pretty sure the dangers outlined are the same if you consider tobacco smoking like macanudo. Although from what I know there are greater risks involved when one is smoking tobacco.
CHALLENGES OF WORKING AT HOME
Last December, I bid goodbye to the corporate world to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom. It wasn’t easy switching from being a regular employee to becoming a full-time free-lancer. It’s actually more challenging to work at home compared to working in a regular office for 8 hours on Mondays to Fridays. Working at home entails a lot of discipline given the challenges that come with it. And speaking of challenges, here are just a few I’ve encountered over the last few months.
- Distractions – If you have a toddler at home and have limited household help, chances are, you’d have to take frequent breaks in order to attend to your child’s needs. In my case, it’s even more difficult considering that my son has a speech delay, so I have to be very keen and attentive to him to find out what he wants to express. Otherwise, he will end up frustrated and I might end up feeling the same way, which is of course, the last thing I want to happen. When that happens, it saps out my energy and my drive to work. Aside from my son, my mom frequently bugs me about a lot of things. As compared to being in a regular office, away from home, my mom cannot call me or bug me just about anytime. Where as now, she can and she does distract me to have me decide or do something totally trivial. Read more…
THE TOYS PLAN THEIR GREAT ESCAPE IN “TOY STORY 3”

Disney/Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” welcomes Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the whole gang back to the big screen as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… daycare! These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the Great Escape get underway. A few new faces—some plastic, some plush—join the adventure, including iconic swinging bachelor and Barbie’s counterpart, Ken (voice of Michael Keaton), a lederhosen-wearing thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants (voice of Timothy Dalton), and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (voice of Ned Beatty). CONVENIENCE OF HAVING A LAPTOP
Laptops or netbooks have been increasingly popular these days. Previously, only businessmen on the go are the ones we frequently see with laptops. But eversince the wifi technology has been enhanced, more and more people are becoming drawn to owning one compared to buying a traditional desktop computer. Add to that the current trend of compact and trendy laptops.
For one, owning a portable computer or well, a laptop, is very convenient in terms of mobility. We can easily put it in our back packs and head somewhere, it’s very easy to transport. Read more…
Entrepreneurs’ anthem “Para sa mga Bossing” features rock icons Rico Blanco, Arnel Pineda

Arnel Pineda recording for Bossing Ako

Rico Blanco
FILIPINO ENTREPRENEURS NOW have their own theme song thanks to the collaboration of Pinoy music legends Rico Blanco and Arnel Pineda. The song, “Para sa mga Bossing” serves as an anthem for entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs—it’s a call for them to continue striving for success, to gather courage and to take control of their destiny. The anthem has been recorded and released, giving voice to the aspirations and accomplishments of Filipino SMEs (small-to-medium scale entrepreneurs).
“PLDT-SME Nation is happy that our vision for Filipino entrepreneurs is being shared so enthusiastically, and with such dedication, by Rico Blanco and Arnel Pineda. We’re happy that the talents of Rico and Arnel are able to help our advocacy and inspire entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs in a powerful way,” says Kat Luna-Abelarde, PLDT vice-president and head of PLDT SME-Nation.
Both Rico and Arnel are committed to using their incredible talents in the service of Filipinos. Rico has previously recorded songs meant to serve a good cause—like the song he released to raise money for Ondoy victims, for example—while Arnel has established his own foundation to help the less fortunate, especially street children. HOW TO PREVENT WRINKLES

Now that I’m close to turning to the big 3-0, I’m becoming more and more conscious about the way I look. I certainly do not want to turn 30 looking like I’m ten or fifteen years older than I am. I do not have wrinkles yet, thank God, but at this point i have to make sure I take good care of my skin, if i don’t want fine lines to appear here and there anytime soon. I’m sharing with you a few tips that I found earlier.
- Drink 8-12 glasses of water daily to ensure that you are fully hydrated.
- Never forget to use sunscreen, especially nowadays when the heat is absolutely unbearable.
- Wear shades whenever you need to get out in the sun. Doing so also enables you to protect your eyes from UV rays.
- Stop smoking or better yet, don’t start. Smoking damages the collagen, as studies have proven that smokers are five times more likely to show excessive wrinkles and creases of facial skin.
- Use a moisturizer that is prescribed by your dermatologist. Normally for oily skinned folks like me, it is best to use gels instead of creams. At the same time, if you already have fine lines starting to appear, ask your dermatologist for a wrinkle cream that would suit you best.
Hope that helps.
WONDER GIRLS – MY SON’S NEW ADDICTION
My son is currently addicted to these girls ever since his father introduced him to their videos. Kindly watch the video and you’ll see that I need not explain why. I’m just kinda surprised my 2 year old is so fascinated with pretty and skimpy girls, he’s particularly attracted to the long haired one. hehe
BATTLE AGAINST THE BULGE
My mom has been nagging me to cut back on my food intake and to become try out more activities other than reading my pile of books and facing my laptop. I know I need to and that she has a point. My new manager and friend and I had a pact that we will hit the gym and start eating healthy come June. The 25lbs weight loss goal of mine should be off before my birthday. If only I’ll have the patience to work out on my goal and to keep the bulge off. Meanwhile, I’m actually considering taking medication if that would help and speed things up. But I still need to ask my doctor on which one I should take. Right now, I’m reading reviews for Xenical and Lipozene and will still ask my doctor. I’m thinking it will also be good to go back to the nutrition and dietary department of UST. Oh well, just thinking out loud here folks.
