WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE FOOT ULCER

foot ulcerIt’s only recently that I’ve heard of the term foot ulcers.  The said infection is common to people suffering from Diabetes. Here are some of the basic things you need to do when you are caring for someone suffering from foot ulcer.

  1. Wash the feet with warm water and mild soap. Keep the feet area clean at all times to avoid the spread of the bacteria.
  2. Consult with your doctor as soon as possible to find out what medication can be used to avoid the wound from being further infected.
  3. Consider an anti-platelet or anti-clotting medication to avoid blood clotting in your foot and leg. (If you have Diabetes, wear diabetic socks as a preventive measure.) Read more…

EVOLUTION OF VIDEO GAMING

atariIt’s amazing to see the evolution of video games through the years. I’m a child of the 80′s and my first encounter with video games is with the Atari. My maternal uncle brought home a unit from the States and my cousins and I would take turns in playing with it. But since I rarely visit my grandmother’s place, I seldom get the chance to play it. My favorite game back then is Pacman.

After a few years, my paternal uncle came home from the middle east and he brought home a Nintendo Family Computer. My cousins and I were ecstatic over playing Super Mario. Who could forget the Mario and Luigi tandem, the 1 up mushrooms, the stars that supposed to make you invisible, the dragon and of course the princess. What’s most frustrating back then is the fact that when your character got killed at nearly the end of the game, you’ll have to start all over again. I guess, it was because of that that gaming companies came up with the capability to save the game. Of course, we all know that Nintendo came up with Game boy, and other versions of the family computer. Read more…

REMINISCING THE TRANSFORMERS

About a month ago, a fellow plurker and blogger blogged about the TRANSFORMERS – the actual vehicles used in the movie, being displayed here in Manila. I think at the World Trade Center, if I recall it right. Anyway, we really wanted to go, had it not been because of budget constraints. I would love to have a picture taken beside Optimus Prime and Bumble bee. Hubby is the one to blame for my fascination with cars, and well add to that my colleagues at my previous work, who got me more into cars.

I thought it was just usual, well by the word “it”, I’m actually referring to my fascination with cars; until another colleague at work looked at me completely baffled that I was able to tell that the SUV that went past us is a Nissan Murano. Me and my manly ways, she would say. That’s the time I thought it was, well, more than an average fascination. :)

And yeah, now that I’m watching the Transformers all over again, I like the scenes when they haven’t transformed yet. Those cars are just plain awesome! If I’m not mistaken there’s also a Dodge in there, one of the Autobots. I’m actually looking at Dodge challenger accessories now and wow! These things make the Dodge really fit to be called a steel stallion!

Oh well, I just hope they bring the Transformers exhibit back in Manila someday.

CREATE A BETTER LOOKING RESUME

shredderSave your resume from the shredder and get HR folks to actually read it, by creating one that looks professional and polished. Fact is, these days, more and more resumes are ending up in the trash or the shredder. So here’s a few tips to ensure, yours don’t suffer the same fate.

Give your resume a much needed face lift by considering these things:

  • Go for a neat and professional look. Never make the mistake of using colored fonts or papers just to make your cv stand out. Yes, it’s a guarantee that it will be noticed and will be looked at, but chances are, it’s also headed for the trash can or the shredder. Neat and professional means, you use fonts that are easy on the eyes and not hard to read, and that the capital letters, italics, underlined texts are consistent. Oh, and make sure you don’t have typographical errors. Remember, your resume is your first step into selling yourself, so it has to be perfect. Read more…
