Laptops or netbooks have been increasingly popular these days. Previously, only businessmen on the go are the ones we frequently see with laptops. But eversince the wifi technology has been enhanced, more and more people are becoming drawn to owning one compared to buying a traditional desktop computer. Add to that the current trend of compact and trendy laptops.

For one, owning a portable computer or well, a laptop, is very convenient in terms of mobility. We can easily put it in our back packs and head somewhere, it’s very easy to transport.

Previously, opting for a laptop means you’re pretty much stuck with its features, where as having a traditional desktop computer equates to having the capability to later on upgrade its features. On the other hand, new releases of netbooks these days are already upgradeable. The one hubby gave me last year, a NEO brand (i forgot the model number), was upgradeable. We later on had to enhance its processor to make it faster. So in terms of upgrading the features the lappies nowadays are not far behind so the desktop is losing that edge.

Lastly, I think there’s a wide variation of lappies out in the market that will most likely have the features and functions one is looking for. Unlike if you intend to build your own desktop computer, you pretty much have to go through a lot of brands and parts that you want integrated into your pc. In some cases, like for techies and computer enthusiasts, I guess that serves more as an advantage – the thrill of actually customizing your own pc. But personally, since I’m not a geek, I opt for a laptop. The hubby on the other hand, being a true-blue techie, is no doubt gravitating towards building his own pc.
