CREATE A BETTER LOOKING RESUME

shredderSave your resume from the shredder and get HR folks to actually read it, by creating one that looks professional and polished. Fact is, these days, more and more resumes are ending up in the trash or the shredder. So here’s a few tips to ensure, yours don’t suffer the same fate.

Give your resume a much needed face lift by considering these things:

  • Go for a neat and professional look. Never make the mistake of using colored fonts or papers just to make your cv stand out. Yes, it’s a guarantee that it will be noticed and will be looked at, but chances are, it’s also headed for the trash can or the shredder. Neat and professional means, you use fonts that are easy on the eyes and not hard to read, and that the capital letters, italics, underlined texts are consistent. Oh, and make sure you don’t have typographical errors. Remember, your resume is your first step into selling yourself, so it has to be perfect.Provide details relating to your previous employment and job experience – length of service, name of company, positions you’ve held in the said firm. This one is pretty basic.
  • Use bullet points to summarize your achievements or key functions on your previous jobs. It is easier on the eyes, which means it is more likely to be read.
  • Highlight on your accomplishments to show that you are results-oriented instead of mentioning potentials, responsibilities and talents. State results of projects you’ve initiated and finished.

That’s not much, but I certainly hope it helps you in making a better looking resume.
