Things to do in Boracay

This is perhaps out of season to write this article. But then again, having talked to a friend who recently came back to Manila after being employed in Boracay for almost a year, she’s able to experience pretty much everything Boracay has to offer. And I would just like to keep tab of those things, just in case I get the chance to come back to the island anytime soon. Here are some of them.

  • Parasailing or parascending – a recreational activity that will surely delight bigger kids and adult alike. You get towed into a boat while you are on board a specially designed parachute. Be ready to spend roughly $50-$70, depends of course when you are in the island during the peak or off-peak season. Read more…

Grade School Kids Nationwide Unite for Good Nutrition

A not-so-fit Future?

It has often been said that our future lies in the children of our country.

But what kind of future is in store for us when Philippine Statistics show that approximately 8 million Filipino children are malnourished?

Various nutrition education programs during Nutrition Month have been implemented to underscore the importance of proper nutrition among schoolchildren.

To teach schoolchildren about nutrition is already something. But to revolutionize it into a nationwide interschool competition for them to learn is something else.

That is why Kraft Cheez Whiz, one of the most-loved cheese brands in the country in partnership with the Department of Education has come up with Palamantasan–the first interschool competition among grade school students nationwide in a quest for nutrition education.

Education is still the key

In line with the Department of Education’s thrust to enhance nutrition education in schools, Kraft Cheez Whiz chose to do a school-based program to further raise public consciousness.  “School is second to home where children learn basic lessons and values,” Alex Dan Tacderas, Category Manager for Cheese and Spoonables, Kraft Foods Philippines shares. “That is why we wanted to direct our cause and execute our program in schools–in both an enjoyable and educational way,” Tacderas adds. Pimples again! GRRR!

Haven’t had the chance to go around the neighborhood as of late to get me some Malunggay leaves, add to that the stress of thinking of a lot of things, including a dumb b*tch who incessantly sends text messages to your husband at odd hours of the night, and here I am with an acne outbreak once again. I’ve never been one to stick to a specific brand or line of beauty products. I’ve always been a soap and water girl. Well I guess it’s high time I do considering my new goal.

Anyway, I’m thinking of trying out brands that contain tea tree oil, as it is said to be a potent ingredient when the goal is having a face cleared of zits. Any recommendations for a good brand friends?

TEXT MESSAGING ETHICS

Back in the early to mid 90′s, the “in” thing in terms of communication gadgets are pagers. But then again, prior to the time it became affordable to ordinary people, the said service is mostly used only by doctors due to the urgency of their jobs. Then, of course, more and more people decided they want to have one as well and so more companies started to offer the service, as such, the rates became more affordable enabling more common people to take advantage of it as well.

In the late 90′s to the early 2000′s the pager became completely forgotten with the advent of text messaging. Text messaging became a massive thing that it completely obliterated the pagers. For one, you no longer have to relay your message to an operator, thereby, taking away any censorship or inhibitions (of course depending on your comfort level with the person you are sending a text message to.). Although, in some cases it may be a good effect, but then again there are still disadvantages. Ergo, as we go through the disadvantages of text messaging, let us also go through some points I’d call Text Messaging Ethics. Read more…

Eclipse…finally!

I wrote my entry earlier while we were waiting for the movie to start screening slated at 8:50pm. I was too disappointed that the crew from Burger King where we ordered take out burgers and onion rings for the movie doesn’t have any sense of urgency at all. And just when you’re really in a hurry, you are faced with people who are completely clueless of the word urgency. When we finally managed to go upstairs at the cinema level, and was ordering my pearl drinks, the lady ordering right before me just couldn’t make up her mind what flavor she’ll go for. And to make that worse, she’s ordering 2 drinks with different flavors. The crew doesn’t help either, her companion is busy washing their other blenders. So we ended up missing 5 minutes of the film! ECLIPSE BY RED MOBILE UNLIMITED

Last week, hubby and I got to watch Knight and Day because we used the SM Movie passes that I won from an online contest of Red Mobile. Well, technically its is more of a raffle rather than a contest. Facebook followers of Red Mobile were asked to answer something. Two days after I left my comment I got a message in Facebook stating that I won and that I need to provide them with my address and contact details so they can send over the tickets.

Last week, I won another contest! They merely asked which team you are routing for – Edward or Jacob. Well of course I said I love Jacob. Lo and behold! I got another message from them telling me that I won again! I was absolutely thrilled!! But beyond winning, I was thrilled that God knew I wanted to watch that movie and had other money matters I needed to prioritize. In fact last week, during the first day showing of Eclipse hubby and I went to SM hoping we could use the pass we got before, but we were told we can only use it once the movie has been shown for already a week. And that’s how we ended up watching Knight and Day. But well, all’s good since hubby and I had a great time still. And well, God is spoiling me lately, so He got me these movie passes for Eclipse this time. :) Thank you God and thank you Red Mobile!

ATTENDANCE ISSUES: What you can do about it

Back in the time when I was still working in the BPO industry, I’ve heard numerous stories from representatives, from the mundane to the downright horrendous stories as to why they were absent. Some are completely creative, some are habitually absent because of family issues, and some due to health concern. I remember one rep who became the topic of a hot debate in one of our management meetings. She apparently used up all possible health reasons she could think of just to have her poor team lead excuse her absence. Apparently, she the only things we thought she wasn’t able to use is athlete’s foot and hemorrhoid. Anyway, she cried her way back to work when she did a drama special in front of the senior manager (who could barely speak English! but that’ll be another story.) and had her sweet revenge on her team lead when she got her termination revoked by the senior manager. Later on my co-team lead, got her vindication when the problem agent, finally went on AWOL because she got another call center job in the Middle East.

Here are a few tips on how to curtail Attendance Issues: Read more…

Project Pretty and Fab by 30!

And yes it’s another blog! When I found out that there is a .info sale at godaddy.com, I went berserk and got into a domain name shopping frenzy! I bought hubby 2 domains, and 4 other domains for me. At the moment, the others are still waiting to be fixed, where as the first one I decided to take care of is still half-done.

Anyway, I’m hoping you guys can spare some time and try to take a look at my other blog. I’m hoping to get a PR for this blog real soon. It is a goal blog, one that is aimed to motivate me in completely changing into a healthy lifestyle. Please check out Projectprettyandfab.info when you have time friends. I’d really appreciate it.

LIPAT BAHAY SERVICES: What to consider

Moving is a tedious job, especially if you have tons of stuff. Just the thought of moving to another house is absolutely tedious. There’s the business of packing up all your stuff, and then transferring it to the truck, cleaning up the empty house (yes, we do!) and then of course the entire carrying and unpacking and arranging your stuff all over again in the new house. Some of the things that are tedious to move are bed frames and bed mattress, huge pieces of furnitures like antique drawers and cabinets, grandfather clocks.

Anyway, the point of this entry is to give you pointers on what to consider when looking for hauling services.

  • Ask around for referrals, as they say the best form of marketing is word of mouth. You want to use the services of a company who has already provided satisfactory service to someone you know. If that is not possible, check out online forums and read  on the feedback provided by former customers.
  • Check the rates. Some companies would charge you an arm and a leg and will not include other services like the actual carrying of your stuff. Make sure you know everything before finally making up your mind.
  • Check out their vehicle and their people. Their people should at least be in uniform and have proper identification and the trucks should look well maintained.

Oh well, hope that helps
