SM City Novaliches finally unveiled its plans and opened its door to its tenants last August 24, 2010

A very nice and quiet afternoon of elegant classical music and contemporary inspired decor and motif, the main walkway of SM City Novaliches was adorned with various artworks and landscape all contributing to the history that SM wanted to share to its tenants.

From the elaborate and finely crafted Foam Art by the On-The-Spot Artists Association of the Philippines, a diorama of Novaliches City welcomed its guests as landmarks and a mini SM City Novaliches made of foam created a beautiful and colorful accent against the windows and white walls of the mall.

Fasting and Detox

image taken from whollyroamincatholic.com

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of fuss about detox and fasting. In fact, in one of the events I went to a couple of months back, the spa has a detox consultant. I kinda wanted to try it out, if only I wasn’t dirt poor back then. Since more and more people are becoming conscious about their health, more than their image, more people are starting to resort to fasting and detoxification, to prevent increasing health risks. Health risks brought about by unhealthy lifestyle, pollution and stress. I wanted to get a book about doing a detox treatment right at home, but in the end, I chickened out because I wanted to consult with a doctor first prior to doing it. At the same time, add to that the price tag that comes along with the book which made me drop the thought altogether. Perhaps I’ll just research it online so I can likewise read reviews of good detox treatments and how to fast the safe way.

Beautiful Jesus

Your love, oh God
Displayed for us
As crimson covered
Over sinless hands
Your majesty
For all to see
In raging storms and quiet cloudless days

Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, briliant Creator
Friend of mine

You’re powerful
Above this world
The universe is under your command

Your glory shines
A holy light
That leads our hearts to praise
Your holy name is on our lips

Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, briliant Creator
Friend of mine
Perfect in power
Matchless in glory
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator
Friend of mine

My lips will sing
My heart will bring
Praise to you, the holy King
My lips will sing
My heart will bring
Praise to you, holy!

CAR SALES AGAIN

Since the fourth quarter of the year is just around the corner, car dealers are starting to hype up their sales promotions since it is expected that more people are going to be able to afford to buy new car units. This is because of the government mandated 13th month pay for employees, at least here in the Philippines. I’m sure first world countries have more incentive during the holiday for the people that make up their working class.

Too bad I have too many things to pay for, too many debts to settle, as such I wont be able to purchase a car for myself this coming end of the year. Hopefully, by next year I can. But most of all, I hope by next Christmas I’ll be driving a car in a snow-covered road. In the mean time, I’ll just have to be content with reading about rave and rants of new car models, gps reviews on the new and better gps brands. It’ll be nice to also check out car promos with good freebies, usually new car releases nowadays already comes with mags, tv monitors and gps systems. It is highly essential that a new car comes with a gps tracking system, now that carnapping is still very rampant and that was carnappers are also becoming more sophisticated and cunning in their ways.

Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to have the old car repaired so I can learn how to drive real soon before our immigrant application gets approved.

Camping Essentials

image taken from goingtentcamping.com

Camping is becoming a hit among travellers as of late, especially with the island of Campomanes in Zambales becoming more and more popular. It is a beach that is unique in its beauty as there are pine trees all around the beach, flourishing in the sandy island. If you find yourself putting that in your to-visit places, be ready to bring along camping essentials, as there is no resort in the place, only a couple of natives manning the place. You can rent tents from them, but the rest of the equipment and some food stocks should be something you bring with you.

Here are a few items considered to be camping essentials.

  • kerosene and wood - to light a fire at night
  • water – for drinking
  • flash light – always comes in handy all the time (a good waterproof brand is brinkmann q beam)
  • food – canned goods, chips and marshmallows for a good night
  • blanket – a thick blanket should not be forgotten so you can sleep warm and comfortably.

Since it’s the rainy season, I’m sure not a lot of people are camping these days. But perhaps once the rainy season is over, I’m thinking it would be nice to go out and camp.

MANILA BUS HOSTAGE TAKING

Here’s another negative issue about Manila police. A discharged police officer deemed it rightful to hostage a bus filled with tourists, apparently asking to be reinstated and be cleared of any charges.

No Guarantees

Life has no guarantees. No amount of insurance can make anything in your life absolutely certain. Although in most cases it still helps to do so. Even if you live in a first world country where your taxes work for you, it helps to have a health insurance. And all the more if you live in a third world country like the Philippines where your taxes goes to politicians pockets and where most government employees are rude and totally devoid of customer service skills.
Here in the Philippines good health insurance providers are Medicard and Maxicare. I think they’re the closest to Blue Advantage. Caritas Health Shield also has good and affordable terms for health policies.
Anyway, if you have kids it is best to have a good health insurance both for you and your family.

POLICE BRUTALITY AT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEVEL

Since I went back to work, I haven’t been able to read through newspapers and watch news on tv. It was only at the latter part of last week that I heard of the police torture done by Manila policemen to a suspected snatcher. It was another police who perhaps took the courage to capture the inhumane act via his mobile phone. The suspect was stripped naked, and his genitals were tied to a rope. Each time the guy failed to answer the policemen’s questions Mr Binayug, the officer who was said to be holding the rope tugs hard at it, while his troops would hit the guy repeatedly.

It is these kind of incidents that make civilians regard police officers as law breakers instead of enforcers. It is really sad and quite unfair for all those honest and noble policemen. I certainly hope and pray that justice be served to the wretched guy who died of torture under the hands of these police officers.
