I just hope that more and more people here in the Philippines becomes aware of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the kind of difficulties that the families with kids with Autism are facing on a day to day basis.  It feels good that people in the US like the ones on the video are more compassionate about these children, here I’ve gotten used to people blatantly staring at us, not even trying to be subtle and some who would even drop sarcastic and snide remarks meant to imply that you’re a bad parent.

If you see someone who has a child in the said spectrum, please be compassionate and be very tactful. Try to really think about what kind of treatment you would want and what kind of words you would want to hear if you are a parent of a kid in the spectrum. If you are completely heartless, this would be mean, but I really hope and pray that your child becomes autistic so that the experience will humble you and give you a better perspective.
