ONLINE HANG OUT PLACES

I must be boring you guys with my book reviews as of late. And if you’re not the bookish type, there’s not much to read lately in my blog but sporadic posts about some random things. Anyway, this is another random thoughts post. We all surf the net and here are the sites I frequent as of late.

Yahoo! Mail – I have a total of three accounts in ymail. The very first one that I have dates back more than a decade ago. My husband (then boyfriend), did set it up for me. And since it’s my very first email, I used it to sign up with just about a lot of sites. Right now it’s brimming with spam mails and well, it’s only function right now is for facebook. You know very well that Facebook sends you email notifications on just about everything, likes on your posts, responses on a post you left a comment etc. Read more…

THOUGHTS ABOUT NICHOLAS SPARKS AND HIS NOVELS

I just finished watching the movie adaptation of one of Nicholas Sparks‘ novel – The Last Song starring Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. While there is a love story angle still, the story focuses more on Ronnie ‘s (Miley Cyrus) relationship with her father (Greg Kinnear), who took them in for the summer. Apparently, the father and daughter had a lot of rebuilding to do, as her parents’ divorce caused her to be bitter towards her father. To cut the long story short, the father eventually died with cancer. Prior to his death, he and his daughter were able to finally make amends and she finished the last piece that his father was trying to compose. Read more…

BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT BY SCOTT MACINTYRE BOOK REVIEW

By Faith, Not by Sight: The Inspirational Story of a Blind Prodigy, a Life-Threatening Illness, and an Unexpected GiftBy Faith, Not by Sight: The Inspirational Story of a Blind Prodigy, a Life-Threatening Illness, and an Unexpected Gift by Scott MacIntyre

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scott MacIntyre’s life and that of his family is indeed an example of unwavering faith in God and his promises. He mentioned that he wanted to reach out to people and tell the world of his story to inspire people and he did just that not only with his book but all that he’s accomplished in his life. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS SEASON 2 – DONE

I finally finished my marathon for season 2 of Pretty Little Liars and while I’m not thrilled about the series, it was interesting enough for me to keep me from doing the stuff I tagged as to do for a couple of days. It’s surprising that this series still has a season 3, Read more…

LOVING BLUE FIRE EBOOK READER

Lately, I’ve really made quite a progress when it comes to my reading both with my daily devotionals and Bible reading as well as my reading projects. The last time I’ve been this productive when it comes to reading would be way back 2005 when I think I’ve read about 20 books for the said year. When I got married and got pregnant, it was rather easy to give in to the temptation of watching tv series since it is one of my husband’s favorite past times. Much of my progress in reading I have to attribute to having an ebook reader, more specifically Blue Fire Ebook Reader. Read more…

CLARA OLE’S KUNG PAO PASTA SAUCE – A NEW FIND

Last Saturday on my home from a lengthy commute from the south to our abode in the East, I dropped by the groceries to get some supplies for our pantry. I was thinking of cooking Carbonara for dinner or some other pasta recipe. The people at home are tired of my spaghetti meat sauce as they prefer the sweet ketchuppy style and my mom is not a big fan of me putting Italian herbs on my sauce, and so I tried to linger in the pasta sauce aisle and lo and behold I found this – Clara Ole’s Kung Pao Pasta Sauce!

Now I remember that my husband is not a big fan of spicy food but he makes an exception for Yellow Cab’s Charlie Chan pasta. And so seeing that this pack is only P29, Read more…

SUMMER HEAT WAVE

I’m really not a big fan of summer. Even when it comes to going to the beach, I’m not the type who’d sulk if it rains on a beach day. In fact, that’s something welcoming for me. Summer is my least favorite time of the year and season. Well, basically we only have 2 seasons here our country, the wet and dry season. And even if we nearly lost everything to the flooding brought about by Read more…

WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER MOVIE REVIEW

So apparently, Video City is still in business. And with digital piracy on an all time high, that just goes to say that rates for dvd and vcd rentals went down reasonably well. So when I found my membership card, which I got for a meager P20, I went ahead and borrowed a couple of dvds and vcds before the holy week. One of the dvds I rented is the romantic comedy movie – What’s Your Number. Read more…

LOOKING FOR A NEW HOBBY THAT COULD BE A BUSINESS

Last night I was so consumed with reading possible new hobbies that I could try my hands on, both as a means of art venture and eventually wanting to turn it into a small manufacturing business. I slept past my bed time since I was so engrossed reading about beaded jewelry making (already tried it in the past and liked it), baking (too many people doing it) and doing other crafts like knitting and crochet (done it in the past) among other things. There are two things that came to mind, one would be reviving my jewelry making venture.

For beaded jewelry making, I’ll have buy new tools as my old ones are all rusty, literally, all because of the flooding brought about by Typhoon Ketsana back in 2009. A little investment on the beads, wires and of course some magazines for patterns. I’m thinking of signing up for an advanced wiring class but I think with a little research and right keywords, I could easily get youtube videos for simple tutorials on that. So that’s one.  Read more…
