LOOKING FOR A NEW HOBBY THAT COULD BE A BUSINESS

Last night I was so consumed with reading possible new hobbies that I could try my hands on, both as a means of art venture and eventually wanting to turn it into a small manufacturing business. I slept past my bed time since I was so engrossed reading about beaded jewelry making (already tried it in the past and liked it), baking (too many people doing it) and doing other crafts like knitting and crochet (done it in the past) among other things. There are two things that came to mind, one would be reviving my jewelry making venture.

For beaded jewelry making, I’ll have buy new tools as my old ones are all rusty, literally, all because of the flooding brought about by Typhoon Ketsana back in 2009. A little investment on the beads, wires and of course some magazines for patterns. I’m thinking of signing up for an advanced wiring class but I think with a little research and right keywords, I could easily get youtube videos for simple tutorials on that. So that’s one.  Read more…

CONFETTI AND PARTY POPPERS – PARTY MUST HAVES

Parties are happy occasions marking different milestones in life like birthdays, weddings, baptisms, promotions and anniversaries to name a few. And though I love attending parties, organizing them is something I am not very good at. And perhaps there are a lot of people like me, thus, the need for coordinators came to be. Since my kid started school last year, I got to know a few of the parents, mostly moms, whose kids also go to the same school. One who I became pretty close with is an events coordinator by profession. I’m surprised about all the nitty-gritty that goes along with planning a party. One thing that really amazed me at just how detailed it could get is the fact that they even color coordinate the confetti and party poppers to make it aligned with the color motif of the party. Wow! ARTSCOW GOODIES

A couple of days after Valentine’s Day, I got an email from Artscow.com telling me about the great Valentine’s offer that they have. The deal is, you get a pair of personalized watch for $14.99 and free shipping worldwide. Ain’t that great? So after waiting for the payment from my blog partners to clear, I went ahead and logged into my Artscow.com account to take advantage of the deal. That was around February 17, when I purchased the watches online, I got a reminder later on stating that standard turn around time for delivery for countries outside the United States takes 3 weeks. MY OWN 2012 PLANNER

a new notebook i converted to a 2012 planner

Planners are very essential in helping us keep up with the things that we need to do and goals we’ve set for ourselves. It helps us to be organized and not to miss out on little things. Alright, I know that this is the digital age and more and more people are perhaps resorting to using a digital planner, those who have high-tech android phones actually have that kind of functionality in their mobile phones. As for me, I’m a child of my time, I find swirling my 0.3 fine tech Dong-A pen in the fine pages of a blank notebook more fulfilling.  Read more…

Scrapbooking

2 months ago, I went to a friend’s place and saw how she chronicled in a very detailed fashion, her children’s life from pregnancy down to all firsts and well up to now. I wish I had the time to do the same thing. To think that I only have one child right now and I could hardly find time to do just that and my friend has 3 children. She’s actually encouraging me to do the same.

Photography Basics

I’ve been thinking of taking Photography lessons for a long time now long before everyone got interested in owning a DSLR. Back in 2005 I was already dreaming of owning my own DSLR. It was a year later when I got a digicam, as a gift from my husband. Hubby got me a Canon S3 Is. It is a very thoughtful gesture and I was more than happy he did. He just got his hands all over it figuring it out when I unwrapped the box that I lost interest.

During the Typhoon Ketsana incident our faithful Canon got submerged in flood water for 2 days. It was repaired by the ever reliable Quaipo repair guys but it’s having problems again lately with the battery life. And with my son growing up and having a lot of milestones, buying another digicam is a must. I’m currently comparing prices and specs right now and going over reviews. And boy! There’s too many good features now. Sony digital cameras are coming up next to Nikon and Canon in terms of  specs and affordability. It’s all damn too good to look at, if only I could afford you guys right now. Well I guess I have to figure out a way to raise money first before checking them out, huh? Yeah, I guess that would be most wise. And then probably after getting my own cam, that’s the time it would be wise to scout for Photography lessons. Well, in the mean time, for those of you who are looking for some lessons this summer, check this out – Search for PhotoWorld Manila in Facebook for details.

Reviving an old hobby

I saw my bead box yesterday while I was trying to clean up and I suddenly thought of reviving my old hobby of making accessories out of loose Swarovski and other beads. I got into it for the mere fun of looking for something to do and well, yes, because I’m such a cheapskate. :) I just try to look at a certain accessory that catches my eye and figure out how to work on it, instead of actually buying it. After all there’s nothing like your own personal creations.  Hopefully I can have my cousin send me back issues of the Bead style Magazine. The ones we have here in the bookstores are mostly in Japanese, which of course is something I won’t be able to understand. I’m hoping to make money out of the creations I’ll be able to come up with. After all, we could all use a little extra income.

Cool Truck Transformation

There has been natural disasters left and right – super typhoons causing flooding, earthquakes etc. Most of which are caused by our own undoing. These calamities are the environment’s way of shouting Enough, of the abuse we are subjecting it to. In our own little ways, we can find ways in order to do our share and help out. We need to find ways to constantly think about how to reduce waste materials, especially the non-biodegradable ones. We need to recycle our waste materials.

Speaking of recycling, I’m extremely fascinated at this cool truck that was restored and completely improved and re-designed by 3 Japanese buddies. The said friends were not even engineers to begin with. But somehow, they managed to salvage this sorry-looking truck…

toyotadyna1to this cool one that could give Optimus Prime a run for his money.

toyotadyna8It may look like any other small truck, but don’t be fooled because the said truck can transform into a two-story mobile dwelling unit. Wondering how that happens and how it looks like, well check out the pictures and be amazed too.

Busy Cross-stitching

Aside from mommy duties and house chores, something else is keeping me busy from checking my blog, blog-hopping and posting entries. I recently tried my hand again on cross stitching. I’m currently working on a wedding pattern, hopefully I finish it in time for my cousin’s wedding on March 26. Personalized gifts are always heart warming and a joy to have. I really hope I finish it in time. This is how it’s going to look like when it’s done.
