Photography Basics

I’ve been thinking of taking Photography lessons for a long time now long before everyone got interested in owning a DSLR. Back in 2005 I was already dreaming of owning my own DSLR. It was a year later when I got a digicam, as a gift from my husband. Hubby got me a Canon S3 Is. It is a very thoughtful gesture and I was more than happy he did. He just got his hands all over it figuring it out when I unwrapped the box that I lost interest.

During the Typhoon Ketsana incident our faithful Canon got submerged in flood water for 2 days. It was repaired by the ever reliable Quaipo repair guys but it’s having problems again lately with the battery life. And with my son growing up and having a lot of milestones, buying another digicam is a must. I’m currently comparing prices and specs right now and going over reviews. And boy! There’s too many good features now. Sony digital cameras are coming up next to Nikon and Canon in terms of  specs and affordability. It’s all damn too good to look at, if only I could afford you guys right now. Well I guess I have to figure out a way to raise money first before checking them out, huh? Yeah, I guess that would be most wise. And then probably after getting my own cam, that’s the time it would be wise to scout for Photography lessons. Well, in the mean time, for those of you who are looking for some lessons this summer, check this out – Search for PhotoWorld Manila in Facebook for details.

To Read List Inventory

I’m currently reading a book I bought from a second hand book shop. With all the things that are happening in my life as of late, I found myself gravitating towards books about establishing a better relationship with God. Right now I’m reading Lord of the Loose Ends by Lloyd Ogilvie. It’s about one’s struggles about gaining control over every aspect, situation and even relationship in life. And how each attempt leads to even more loose ends. Anyway, going back, since the theme of the books I’m reading lately are more on spirituality and seeking God, I found my list of fiction books and self-help books piling up. At home, I have one fiction book that was written by a Japanese author (I forgot the title), that was given to me by husband on my 27th birthday. Dang! It’s been waiting in line for 3 years now! Aside from that I have Harry Potter 7, Outliers, Slumdog Millionaire that’s waiting online. I had to fight the urge to buy another book every time I pass by a book store. The newest addition to my to read list is Mojo, given to me by my uncle right before he went back to the States. Looks like a good read, can’t wait to start reading it. Oh well, so much to do, so little time!

The world-renowned circus show Cirque du Soleil will be showing in Manila this coming June. They will be staging the show Varekai. Hopefully I get enough moohlah to buy tickets for the said show. Otherwise, I’m praying I get to score some free tickets somewhere, who knows I might get lucky.

GREEN LANTERN, SUCKER PUNCH LEAD WARNER’S 2011 LINE-UP

Warner Bros. Pictures proudly announces its enviable slate of films for 2011. Highlights include a new screen incarnation of comic book hero “Green Lantern,” a compelling re-imagining of “Red Riding Hood,” an all-girl, kick-ass action fantasy in “Sucker Punch” and the shocking conclusion to the “Harry Potter” saga in “Deathly Hallows – Part 2.”

Green Lantern.” Each sector of space is protected by a Green Lantern, possessing a power ring that uses a powerful green energy to do anything within the limits of the user’s imagination and will power. When the Green Lantern assigned to this sector of space finds himself dying on planet Earth, he tells the ring to find a suitable successor. The chosen replacement, hot-shot test pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), finds himself with a new job he never expected…

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.” In this epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the Wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

Sucker Punch.” Director Zach Snyder’s epic action fantasy takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl (Emily Browning) whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.

Too many books… too little time

My list of books to read is starting to pile up again. To start off, I’ve had very little progress in terms of trying to finish Dan Brown’s – The Lost Symbol. On top of that, my sales unit manager is letting me borrow her Twilight series books which we all know consists of 4 huge books. I also have another book from my dad that I’m trying to read. And the new titles I like in addition to my old list (which roughly has 15 books)  are as follows: Lost dogs and Lonely Hearts, Love who you’re with, The Outliers, Blink (our old copy became a victim of Ondoy), the Tipping Point, The Last Song, Dear John, Shutter Island and well so much more. And the list goes on. Have to really resist dropping by a bookstore to prevent myself from looking around and adding more titles to that list.
