The school year is drawing to a close and once again, I have to get back on track in my quest to find a good and affordable school for special children. It is really challenging to look for schools for learning disabilities. The first school we enrolled our son placed him together with the pre-vocational class, which I learned much later on as a major no-no. Why? because pre-vocational class is for young teens with special needs, who will be taught skills necessary in procuring a livelihood. No wonder my son got beaten up one time by his 16-year old classmate whose parents didn’t even bother to send me a text message to apologize for what happened. My son was 4 that time and imagine him being seated beside a 16 year old kid. I still get mad thinking about that day. Read more…

Every thing is online these days that they of course have to make sure they order it ahead of time, so give time for shipping and of course the tedious task of actually trying to fit everything in the box. BIOMEDICAL CENTER FOR AUTISM AND OTHER SIMILAR DISORDERS
Last week, we went to Mindanao avenue to bring our son to the center. What made us troop there all of a sudden without an appointment is the fact that it has been a week since he last pooped. Read more…
TACA.ORG
TACA.ORG. Curious? I’m sure you are. TACA stands for Talk About Curing Autism. The group started out as a network of moms who have kids in the in the spectrum and are trying to swap stories on how they are trying to recover their kids from Autism. The group became bigger and bigger, until such time that the people in the neighborhood from where they are meeting weekly started complaining due to the number of cars parked in the neighborhood. And that’s when the group decided to come up with a name and one thing led to another.
If you are looking for resources and reading materials about Autism, the site is very informative. I remember the time my son was diagnosed with Autism, I was heartbroken and clueless. Technology is such a blessing, as we can now have information really quick. I could only imagine how difficult it must have been for mothers who had kids in the spectrum 10-20 years ago. Today there’s a lot of information about Autism and although nothing has been pronounced definite, you might want to keep on reading resources that would offer hope. Never let anyone tell you that your child is hopeless and that it’s never going to get better, because believing so is the start of giving up on your child.
TACA.org provides valuable information, from GFCF diet, recipes, bio-medical intervention as well as success stories.
Jenny McCarthy and her Advocacy
Jenny McCarthy used to be an MTV Vj, that’s as little as I know about her life before she gave birth. I also know she used to be a sexy ad model when I saw a huge pin up of her wearing a sexy 2-pc bikini posted in the the girls locker and shower room of the gym where I used to work out. I guess it’s a way to encourage girls to lose weight whenever they see her enviable figure.
Going back, I’m really not good when it comes to people in Hollywood so I really don’t know her. I found out about her when my dear godmother and aunt sent me her book – Louder than Words. It’s Jenny’s documentary of when she found out that he son has autism and how she waged a war against it, and WON! Hers is a story of hope and determination.
Currently, I am reading through her follow up book – Mother Warriors.
I saw it in National Bookstore and immediately grabbed it and paid for it at the cashier, never mind that it’s not a budgeted purchase. I need to read it and I need to re-kindle that hope that I can get my son back.
I’m mid way into the book and it’s all about stories about parents who did not give up on their children. Also it is about Jenny’s courageous battle to tell the American Association of Pediatricians that there is a link between the vaccines and autism. We are not just angry mothers looking to for someone or something to blame. Yes our children may have been predisposed but as they say it is the classic case of genetics loaded the gun and environment pulled the trigger. It is disappointing that the AAP would just turn a deaf ear, just because, it is more profitable that way.
To Jenny McCarthy, thank you for offering hope and for standing up for all of us mothers whose once healthy kids were snatched from us by autism with a visit to the pedia and a seemingly harmless vaccination. Thank you for reminding us not to give up the fight. God bless you! Count me in on this fight.
