LOOKING FOR A NEW HOBBY THAT COULD BE A BUSINESS

Last night I was so consumed with reading possible new hobbies that I could try my hands on, both as a means of art venture and eventually wanting to turn it into a small manufacturing business. I slept past my bed time since I was so engrossed reading about beaded jewelry making (already tried it in the past and liked it), baking (too many people doing it) and doing other crafts like knitting and crochet (done it in the past) among other things. There are two things that came to mind, one would be reviving my jewelry making venture.

For beaded jewelry making, I’ll have buy new tools as my old ones are all rusty, literally, all because of the flooding brought about by Typhoon Ketsana back in 2009. A little investment on the beads, wires and of course some magazines for patterns. I’m thinking of signing up for an advanced wiring class but I think with a little research and right keywords, I could easily get youtube videos for simple tutorials on that. So that’s one.  Read more…

Size 7, Test of Faith, Heaven Sent

It was a very simple pair of shoes. Size 7, brown, flat, and closed toe  - good for both casual and formal occasions. Yes it may not be branded but what’s special about that shoes is how it came to me. Yes, it did come to me.

brown flat shoes

I was 16 years old then, a high school senior in one of the well respected institutions of learning in the country. We are not well off, in fact, the only reason I got to study in UST was because of my uncle, who was kind enough to pay for my tuition fee. My father is a pastor of a very small church. And with most small churches, the pastor doesn’t get any monetary support from the church. Read more…

Dreaming of a new car

After the typhoon Ondoy (typhoon Ketsana), our car had to go through major  repair and renovation because it was under water for 2 days. It was 2 weeks after that fateful incident when we finally found someone to fix our poor car. Auto repair shops were packed and have jobs on queue for up to three months. So we were ecstatic to find a well recommended mechanic and painter. It is already a sweet deal- repair and repaint for less than fifty grand, well of course, we had to shoulder the other costs when it comes to replacing some spare parts.

Now that we have the car back, we were told that there are some things that still needs to be replaced and checked. Oh well, these things are entirely inevitable with old cars I suppose. That’s why I’m thinking of adding  new car in my set of faith goals. This time around I’m thinking of praying for my own car. A new car has so many other features and add-ons that is unknown to our 14 year old car. One great feature of newer car models is the check engine light feature. I’ve been reading about cars since I’m planning to finally start learning how to drive and when I read about that feature and asked hubby if our car has that, I was disappointed to hear that our car doesn’t have it.

Aside from the nuisances in the repairs and changes in spare parts when it comes to maintaining an old car, a good reason to buy a new car is to help the environment. New cars manufactured nowadays are more earth friendly, so that’s one more reason for me to pray for a new car. On the top of my list of choices is the Toyota Camry! Yeah I know that this model is currently being recalled in the US but local units are not affected so that’s great news. And yeah, I haven’t started praying for it anyway, so I guess I ought to start. hehe :)
