On skin products

I did look at the old pictures that I have, the ones that are from back 5 to 8 years ago and boy were they different from the face I see now in the mirror. I looked stressed and really tired. Although on the pictures that I have recently, my skin is at its fairest. On the other hand, on a closer inspection, there seems to be a lot of blemishes and sun spots. Fortunately, I don’t see any fine lines and I would like to keep it that way. Now that I’m in my line of 3, I vow to keep the following resolution:

  • religiously have facials or a diamond peel twice a month
  • find out the best anti wrinkle creams and see which on the list is most affordable for me.
  • drink more water
  • eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • exercise

Such a tall order. I certainly hope I get to keep all.

The Big Three – 0!

I just turned 30, a few days ago. Somehow, I don’t feel like 30. As they say, age is just a number. On the other hand, i came across an id picture of mine way back 10 years ago, and boy do I look so much younger then! It’s a wake up call! Here are some of my resolution for this new year of my life:

  • Have facials 2x a month, which was an old routine.
  • Hair spa 2x a month as well.
  • Research further on what’s a good anti aging product.
  • Exercise.
  • Eat healthy.
  • Laugh more.

I have another one that I’ll keep to myself in the mean time. Hopefully I get to follow through all those things I’ve outlined.

Beat that Belly Fat!

Belly fat, whether it’s a beer belly or after pregnancy kind of belly fat; it ain’t pretty. It’s nasty in pictures and is purely unsightly! So how do you get rid of belly fat? There’s a lot of ways. For one, you can take the easier and yet more expensive way – liposuction. For the rest of the population who just cannot afford the said procedure, or are just plain scared to go under the knife, the only way to do it is through diet and exercise. Below are some exercise routines that aids on how to lose abdominal fat.

  • Lunge Twist
  • Step Hop
  • Shot Put

You may want to try to check out the routines in youtube for a better instruction on how it should be done.

Diet Failed…yet again

I lost weight already which is good and I know that because I felt my jeans loosen up, I could fit into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes once more. But then again, ever since the husband went back, the weight started coming back just as well. Which reminds me that I have to start working out again and resume my intake of Orlistat. While I am initially satisfied with how the Alli brand is working on me, I am actually considering going for a different brand name next time. I’m actually thinking if I’d go for Xenical or Lesofat next time. It’s just darn hard to look for the fastest working weight loss pills, especially when there’s just so many brands out there.

Any suggestions?

Dr. Tam Mateo

Two Sundays ago, I got the chance to watch Salamat Doc – a local TV program, that features doctors, nutritionists and other medical practitioners and gives the audience a chance to do a Q&A at the end of the show. One of the things that caught my attention and prevented me from switching channels, was when Dr. Tam Mateo started talking. He is a Naturopathologist and was the one of the pioneers in his area here in the Philippines. A lot of people attest to his methods, mostly previous cancer patients, who got cured completely just by changing their eating habbits. According to Dr. Mateo, there are a lot of benefits of eating greens and actually eating raw vegetables. Now, I’m actually very fond of eating veggies, but I kinda have reservations when it comes to eating it raw, since I’m pretty sure my sense of taste will most likely object to it. Nonetheless, I think I like what I saw and read so far, so I’m going to attend his seminar perhaps sometime next month.

For those who may also be interested, you may want to get in touch with them through the numbers on the pic posted. They have a variety of products like juices, vitamins, teas and perhaps even colon cleansing pills.

Haircare 101

image taken from immortalhumans.com

They say that the hair is the crowning glory of a person, and I haven’t actually heard of anyone who dared to contradict the said statement. And that is why women, and even men, are becoming more and more conscious of how  they take care of their hair. Below are a few tips you can use to ensure that you give your hair its much need TLC.

  • Use a conditioner – while others, mostly men, may be content with just using a shampoo, using a conditioner provides extra TLC for your hair. It not only makes the hair softer, it also aids in the repair of damaged hair.
  • Use a shampoo that is appropriate for your hair type. If you have colored hair, frizzy or straight hair, there are shampoo brands out there that is well suited for your hair type. There’s even a shampoo for thin hair.
  • Using various hair products for styling your hair too often can damage your hair and your scalp, make sure you take steps in restoring the natural sebum of your hair by going for hair treatments such as hot oils or hair spas.
  • Brush and comb your hair! Yes that old adage still holds true. It helps make your hair shine. :)

HerbaLife

image taken from harfordvelo.org

Last week while I was at the gym doing my cardio exercise, I saw one woman who was mixing a herbalife shake, she even has a blender with her. Her other friends drank as well, it seems that she is selling it. Then while I was changing, after my work out,  I see flyers inside the dressing area. I’m guessing it was from the same lady. It’s a Herbalife flyer complete with basic information about a healthy breakfast and weight loss success stories from those who’ve tried the said product. It is so enticing when you see the pictures that goes with their testimonials. Perhaps one of these days, I might just give her a call. :)

Alli Orlistat

I’ve been using Orlistat Alli for more than a month now. I found it on 50% sale in Mercury Drug about 2 months ago. The said brand is much cheaper than Xenical, although I’m not sure about Lesofat. I initially had hesitations but when I saw that it is from Glaxo Smith Kline, I went ahead and gave it a try.

In this day and age when we all are becoming accustomed to a very sedentary lifestyle, sometimes it helps to use fat burning pills. This one is particularly useful especially when your diet is mostly made up of fatty foods. One thing I like about this brand is that it also comes with a meal plan, which I have to start following soon.

There are some who make use of diet pills as well, more like the appetite suppresants. I still have some reservations at the moment but perhaps when I get a good review from someone I personally know, I might just give it a try. Sometimes it’s not really reliable to go online to read about which diet pills work best. Well, having said that, I guess some of you might not find this post entirely reliable, given that you do not know me personally. hehe

Fasting and Detox

image taken from whollyroamincatholic.com

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of fuss about detox and fasting. In fact, in one of the events I went to a couple of months back, the spa has a detox consultant. I kinda wanted to try it out, if only I wasn’t dirt poor back then. Since more and more people are becoming conscious about their health, more than their image, more people are starting to resort to fasting and detoxification, to prevent increasing health risks. Health risks brought about by unhealthy lifestyle, pollution and stress. I wanted to get a book about doing a detox treatment right at home, but in the end, I chickened out because I wanted to consult with a doctor first prior to doing it. At the same time, add to that the price tag that comes along with the book which made me drop the thought altogether. Perhaps I’ll just research it online so I can likewise read reviews of good detox treatments and how to fast the safe way.
