100 Days to Heaven is one of the telenovela or soap operas of ABS CBN or Channel 2 of Philippine TV. I wasn’t able to catch the pilot episode but was filled in by our house helper and my mother. The show stars veteran actress Connie Reyes and the loveable and talented child actress sensation, Xyriel Manabat.

Sky Cable System Failure

My husband is currently furious that Sky Cable is down, just when NBA Finals is just about to start. And to make things worse, he cannot get through the customer service hotline of  Sky Cable. And yes, this is what we are paying for.

Lately, we’ve been having intermittent signal interruption for our service. And we  just pass it off by trying to watch some torrentz files we downloaded. Sometimes, it could be as long as 20mins, and can be as short as 5mins. Sadly, we have no option but to stick it out with them, they have monopoly of the cable services in the village. The village has not yet permitted Destiny cable to set up cable lines, I guess there has to be enough people to sign up. Otherwise, if you’re the only one signing up for it, it’ll cost you an arm and a leg, depending on how far your house is from the gate. Of course, we don’t want to take that route. Read more…

Baron Geisler: Bad boy to good boy?

Baron Geisler has been branded as one of Philippine showbiz’s bad boy because of his abusive behavior towards women whenever he gets drunk. The most recent incident was his assault towards his then co-star in an ABS CBN soap Cherry Pie Picache. Having had a series of complaints and cases against for the said misbehavior, the actor was forced to seek help. He is still in rehab right now and was recently interviewed by Korina Sanchez for her Sunday show, Rated K. Baron said that he has a misconception that a real guy has to drink, and so that is one of the root causes of his drinking problem. And that whenever he gets drunk, he gets out of hand. It is good that he finally got help before things get even more worse.

On a different note, I’m just wondering if there bipolar rehab treatment centers in the Philippines. There are some people that would really need the treatment. At least Baron’s case is easier, bipolar people don’t need to be drunk to be extreme. Something could just happen and they get ticked off and react violently altogether. Quite very odd.

Going back to Baron Geisler, I just hope that he gets to continue to avoid alcohol when he gets out of rehab.

Team Philippines Wins Amazing Race Asia 4

image taken from ph.yfittopostblog.com

Congratulations to Team Philippines, specifically the Richards, who won the highly-watched, fun-filled and breath-stopping Amazing Race Asia season 4. Finally, someone from the Philippines won the competition. While I don’t regularly watch each episode, from the few that I managed to catch, these two guys proved to be nice. Didn’t see any monkey business, or any trace of foul play or just plain being rude towards their competitors. At last, nice guys finished first. :)

Once again, congratulations Team Pilipinas – the Richards! You make us mighty proud!

MANILA BUS HOSTAGE TAKING

Here’s another negative issue about Manila police. A discharged police officer deemed it rightful to hostage a bus filled with tourists, apparently asking to be reinstated and be cleared of any charges.

POLICE BRUTALITY AT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEVEL

Since I went back to work, I haven’t been able to read through newspapers and watch news on tv. It was only at the latter part of last week that I heard of the police torture done by Manila policemen to a suspected snatcher. It was another police who perhaps took the courage to capture the inhumane act via his mobile phone. The suspect was stripped naked, and his genitals were tied to a rope. Each time the guy failed to answer the policemen’s questions Mr Binayug, the officer who was said to be holding the rope tugs hard at it, while his troops would hit the guy repeatedly.

It is these kind of incidents that make civilians regard police officers as law breakers instead of enforcers. It is really sad and quite unfair for all those honest and noble policemen. I certainly hope and pray that justice be served to the wretched guy who died of torture under the hands of these police officers.

Donita as Showtime Judge

One of the perks I get from being a stay-at-home mom, is being able to watch TV. As for the shows that we normally don’t miss, on top of the list is Showtime of Channel 2, that airs from Mondays-Saturdays from 10:30am – 12nn. Vice Ganda’s witty remarks and sarcastic comments is one of the biggest reasons for the show’s top ratings. He’s the only judge that could not be voted out the by the public, which he likes to refer to as the “madlang people”. Read more…
