PAWS needs Volunteers!

paws volunteersPAWS, short for Philippine Animal Welfare Society is in need of volunteers. There’s so much you can do for the animals. A little time will go a long way in helping those poor animals. Here’s actually some of the things you can do:

  1. Office Assistant – The task is pretty simple and mostly is about paper works like processing adoption applications. Other functions would be to receive guests and tell them about the different programs offered by the organization, of course answering phone queries is also another task.
  2. Admitting – You will be involved in rescue operations and will be instrumental in completing the operation by processing admitting papers, taking pictures and uploading details in the animal database. Read more…

Dog Fights – A heart-wrenching battle of some of our Canine friends

I didn’t know such a practice existed until I was already out of college. I was a trainee back then at a call center and had a colleague who breeds dogs both for hobby and business. I was amazed that they were all too nice and sociable, their wiggly tails all signals that they want me to pet them. They are all so adorable. The dogs environment and how they are nurtured truly play a big role in their disposition.

We were surprised that he could leave his 2 yr old boy in the same room with his dog. We were amazed that it was the dog who is afraid of the kid. My staff’s kid would pinch and pull the dog and the dog would try to escape from him and hide from him. Judging from those 2 encounters, I could definitely say that dog aggression is only a product of bad pet owners. Read more…
