POLICE BRUTALITY AT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEVEL

Posted by bluerlyn on Aug 23, 2010 in Current Events, Local TV, News

Since I went back to work, I haven’t been able to read through newspapers and watch news on tv. It was only at the latter part of last week that I heard of the police torture done by Manila policemen to a suspected snatcher. It was another police who perhaps took the courage to capture the inhumane act via his mobile phone. The suspect was stripped naked, and his genitals were tied to a rope. Each time the guy failed to answer the policemen’s questions Mr Binayug, the officer who was said to be holding the rope tugs hard at it, while his troops would hit the guy repeatedly.

It is these kind of incidents that make civilians regard police officers as law breakers instead of enforcers. It is really sad and quite unfair for all those honest and noble policemen. I certainly hope and pray that justice be served to the wretched guy who died of torture under the hands of these police officers.

BLIMS FURNITURE STORE MID-YEAR SALE

Posted by bluerlyn on Aug 21, 2010 in Home Improvements, Home and Garden, Retail Therapy

BLIMS furniture store is holding a mid-year sale. The said is known to sell upscale furnitures both for home and office use. My place of work is right across their store in QC area. There are bed frames, center tables, cabinets, office tables and modern sofas at the lobby where they placed their marked down items. The sale period is up to August 31st and the marked down items can have discounts as high as 70% off.  I was told by the office lady guard that she saw Donita Rose sometime last week shopping for some items. Last year, it was Korina Sanchez who bought from the said store.

Well, I’m holding off on spending right now. May be some other time I will buy there too. :)

Failing the marshmallow test

Posted by bluerlyn on Aug 21, 2010 in Cosmetics, Life, Money Matters, Womanhood

Yesterday, I was only supposed to buy a pack of face oil remover sheets. but i ended up with a concealer, an eye-liner and a foundation/face powder refill. all because of the free bag that comes along when your purchase adds up to 350. Sometimes I find it hard to keep my money when there are promotional items that goes along with the purchase.

Good thing I didn’t have to spend for food last night. God gave me a taste of a sumptuous Puttanesca care of my team mate Trina. :)

California Dreaming

Posted by bluerlyn on Aug 20, 2010 in Life, Parenting, Travel, Womanhood, work

Later this afternoon, I will be ta king the first step in realizing my dream for a better future for my family. I am praying for God’s blessing and speedy processing of our papers. Hopefully we’ll be spending Christmas next year away from Pinas. Despite the title of this entry, please note that my plans of moving to another part of the world doesn’t mean that we were going to the US. On the other hand, I’m dreaming of going to the US mainly to visit California and see my long lost relatives and cousins who grew up there, and of course check out Disney Land. On top of that I’d like to visit some friends in Utah and go to Florida for a grand Orlando vacation.

RELIEVE MIGRAINE PAIN

Posted by bluerlyn on Aug 20, 2010 in Health and Fitness

Having migraine is a complete bummer! It takes quite a while before the pain goes away, in fact, in my case, I have to be able to completely sleep it off to get rid of the pain. I wasn’t aware that that throbbing pain is migraine, that a mere change in lighting or extremely loud noises triggers it. To make matters worse, I developed an allergic reaction to almost all sorts of over-the-counter pain relievers like Mefanamic acid, Ibuprofen and even Paracetamol. So how do I counter the pains of migraine? Well, below are the things that I do.

  • I turn the AC on and turn off the lights to make the room conducive for sleep. In the event that it’s broad day light, I try to put sunglasses on
  • Take a tablet of Tylenol.
  • I try to massage my scalp and put pressure on my temples.
  • Use aromatic oils like lavander, to all the more make myself sleepy.
  • When I have the money, I’d normally opt for a home massage.

All methods are guaranteed to make you sleep. :)

Vampire Mode… Again

Posted by bluerlyn on Aug 19, 2010 in Life, Money Matters, work

image taken from skyscrapercity.com

That’s a picture of the Makati Skyline, a view I’ve grown quite accustomed to when I worked there at different times of my life. The Makati Business district is a bustling metropolis filled with people clad in their best business casual attires walking from one metal building to another; impressive tall buildings and different five-star hotels.

Makati will always be Makati, and yet despite its unique and beguiling appeal, I feel relieved that I am no longer working at the said business district. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because of any of the companies I’ve worked for in the past that holds office in the said city. Each company holds a dear place in my heart, no matter how cheesy that sounds. Going back, the reason I feel relieved that I am no longer working in the said city is because I feel that life out there is too fast paced and well, too much negative energy going around, pardon me but words just escape me and I’m at a loss on how to fully explain just what I said. But if you’ve worked in Makati, somehow you’d understand what I mean. On top of that, I find it really hard to save whenever I work there. Too many things that rouses the lust of the eyes, ooppps don’t get me wrong! I’m merely referring to retail therapy. Lastly, since I live in the East side (yeah the easily flooded side of the metro) of the metro, I am happier now, that I work real close to home. The travel time is a big thing especially that I have a very sweet little boy that waits for me after a tiring day at work. Oooppss, well now that I’m given a new schedule, I should start saying, working nights instead of days. Looks like I’ll be teaching my son to say “good mornight!” as our greeting when I get home from work.

Oh well, good mornight folks! I know you guys are off to bed while I am about to start my working hours.
