America’s newest hit TV series – Glee, just leaked that the latest Filipina singing sensation, Charice will be starring in its second season. I’m sure Filipinos around the world are darn proud of Charice, this is definitely another feather on her cap. Charice is going to play the role of an exchange student who is set to give New Directions’ female lead – Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) a tough competition. We could all be sure by now that there’d be plenty of vocal showdowns given how talented Charice is. Now, having found out about it, I’m sure that more and more Filipino Glee fanatics are even more excited to watch Glee’s second season!

UNFRIEND, MORE THAN JUST A FACEBOOK TERM

The word became pretty popular in Facebook since the option became available to technically “unfriend” or remove someone from your friends list in the said social networking site. The act of cutting ties and burning bridges with someone who used to be dear to us (whether in a platonic or a romantic way), is nothing new. It happens all the time, as people say.

In my younger, immature days, I would opt to unfriend somebody, even if the reason is somewhat petty. Fortunately, God made a way to bring these people back into my life. We’ve all grown up and reconnected and decided to renew our ties. Now that I am older and my years have somehow made me wise, I have decided to unfriend someone in order to follow an advice from a song I like way back in college – Sunscreen. Well, it really is not a song if you listen to it, it’s just a narration of a man’s simple pieces of advice with a background music playing along as he gives out his insight on various things. Anyway, one of the things he mentioned is to – “stop putting up with people who are reckless with your heart”. Read more…

Weddings At Work

Posted by bluerlyn on Jun 11, 2010 in Love, occasions

Weddings at Work (weddingsatwork.com) is a website that is all about weddings. Everything imaginable – articles on the requirements you need to secure for the wedding, finding a venue and different suppliers. You can opt to be a member in order to get discounted rates from selected suppliers who honors W@Wies.

For suppliers, you can find musicians, photographers, florists, caterers, designers and even gowns and tuxedo shirts rentals. They also have a wedding forum for couples to be wed and of course those who already tied the knot. I have a lot of friends who would vouch for how good this site is as a wedding resource. Since it’s June I’m sure there are a lot of W@Wies out there who are set to exchange I-do’s, and to them I say Best wishes and Congratulations! :)

TRUCK HOUSES FOR SALE

Last Sunday as I was browsing through the classified ads of the Manila Bulletin, I was surprised to find an ad that sells truck houses. Basically they will build you a house from truck compartments. Each unit, not sure of the measurement though, is said to cost roughly PhP 99k. Their selling point is that it is low maintenance, termite-free, rust-proof and durable. They can also sell you multiple units so you can stack it up if you want a second floor and so forth. Interesting eh? And how very ingenious don’t you think? Too bad I don’t remember if they have a website. I’ll try to check later and see if they do, so I can post pictures here from their site. And who knows some people might actually be interested.

Reminds me of the time when I was still little. I used to pester my dad whenever I’d see rvs (roving vehicles)  in American films. I wanted to live in one. I wonder when they can have used rvs for sale here in the Philippines. We’d probably be the first ones to buy. :)

A BARBIE-KEN LOVE STORY IN “TOY STORY 3”!

Posted by bluerlyn on Jun 8, 2010 in Entertainment, movies

ToyStory3_07

One of the true highlights of “Toy Story 2” was the introduction of Barbie, perhaps the most famous and popular doll of all time. In Disney/Pixar’s new sequel “Toy Story 3,” Barbie takes on an even greater role and meets the man of her dreams when she encounters Ken. Like all great screen romances, this relationship has its share of challenges, but this one takes on some particularly fascinating twists and turns.

According to director Lee Unkrich, “The idea of putting Ken in the film just felt rife with comic potential. Ken is a guy who is ostensibly a girl’s toy, and he’s also really nothing more than an accessory for Barbie. He is no more important than a pair of shoes or a purse. We figured he had to be pretty insecure about those things, and tried to tap into that as much as possible. He’s really into clothes, being the ultimate fashion maven. He wears a different outfit in every scene in the movie. We thought it would be a nice touch to dress Ken only in real outfits that actually existed, so we consulted with a guy who is the world’s preeminent Ken expert.” Read more…

Everything seems to getting more expensive – gas, electricity, tuition fees, life insurance rate etc. That’s why the thought of going somewhere else where there is a better standard of living is becoming even more enticing. Get Cheap Car Insurance Rates

Posted by bluerlyn on Jun 5, 2010 in Money Matters

driving

The economic slump has got a lot of people not only trying to look for alternative means of passive income, but also cutting back on expenses which is only logical. Given the current hard times, people are trying to be mindful of where they put their money and some are trying to cut back on other things in order to allot the funds for other important things later on. While some people cut back on insurance, it is I would say, not sensible, particularly that of a car insurance. Having one saves you much headache later on, should you encounter a road accident. EMOTIONAL AFFAIRS

Some are insisting that money is a requirement in order to have an affair. Well, I say, not in all cases. There is such a thing as an emotional affair just in case you are not aware. An emotional affair initially starts as an innocent friendship. A little chit chat here and there that could later on result to an exchange of pro-longed emails or text messages. This kind of an affair does not have physical intimacy in the equation, thereby and somehow, taking out the money in the equation as well. Of course, when you want to meet in some clandestine location to do the deed, in cases of affairs involving physical intimacy, you obviously need money for that. The absence of physical intimacy, somehow equates to eliminating the money part as well.

When you are investing in time and emotional energy that could later on form a strong emotional bond with someone else aside from your spouse, would no doubt hurt the intimacy that you should be sharing with your spouse. Read more…
