Nostalgic over Coffee

image taken from latimesblogs.latimes.com

This morning I made myself a cup of coffee while my boys are still asleep. I’m a morning person and so at night, the usual scene for us is that minutes after hitting the sack, no matter what the father and son are up to, I never fail to doze off. They in turn are late sleeper. It works for me since I get to have some me time in the morning, aside from preparing their breakfast and the little boy’s vitamins and all.

Earlier while having my coffee, I realized how much little interaction I have with my friends now. I miss hanging out with my friends till the wee hours of the morning. I miss having girl talk, how we sometimes get so involved in our discussion be it something as mundane as our quest for the most effective fat burner product or the something as serious as matters of the heart.

Oh well, hope I could touch base with some of my friends in the coming days. :)

UNFRIEND, MORE THAN JUST A FACEBOOK TERM

The word became pretty popular in Facebook since the option became available to technically “unfriend” or remove someone from your friends list in the said social networking site. The act of cutting ties and burning bridges with someone who used to be dear to us (whether in a platonic or a romantic way), is nothing new. It happens all the time, as people say.

In my younger, immature days, I would opt to unfriend somebody, even if the reason is somewhat petty. Fortunately, God made a way to bring these people back into my life. We’ve all grown up and reconnected and decided to renew our ties. Now that I am older and my years have somehow made me wise, I have decided to unfriend someone in order to follow an advice from a song I like way back in college – Sunscreen. Well, it really is not a song if you listen to it, it’s just a narration of a man’s simple pieces of advice with a background music playing along as he gives out his insight on various things. Anyway, one of the things he mentioned is to – “stop putting up with people who are reckless with your heart”. Read more…

Missing Starbucks coffee

frappcuccino-java-chip-300x400

The day is about to end in less than an hour and here I am craving for a Starbucks Java chip frap with blended whipped cream. Yes that’s my signature Starbucks drink. For a hot coffee fix, my favorite is a venti cup of Hot White Mocha, quite a sugar rush compared to a macchiato or cappuccino but I won’t have it any other way.

It’s been almost 2 months now since I left the call center industry and of course along with that parting, I likewise have to say goodbye to my coffee fix, not only is it exorbitant now considering our current income capacity, but I wont have a need for it since I can now afford the luxury of sleeping like a regular person. Goodbye to graveyard shift!  But here I am, missing my caffeine fix. Or is it really the coffee that I’m missing? It certainly is not the work, believe me I am so not meant for the call center industry. Perhaps more than that highly fattening, expensive frappuccino, I miss the people I used to work with. I miss the laugh trips and the bashing sessions, yeah I probably miss those people who became my friends.

I miss all of them and though I may not see them all the time (perhaps some I would never see again), I’m grateful for the times I’ve shared with them and the friendship we’ve built (no matter how fleeting), over a cup of coffee.
