Sticking to a diet… sell me some discipline

scaleStepping on the weighing scale is something that dreads me every time for the past two and half years. After giving birth, I made a pact with myself time and time again that I will get back in shape and have my pre-pregnancy weight at 98lbs. Despite trying out different diets and even resorting to self induced vomiting at times, I still find myself off from my desired weight. I’ve written about the No Rice formula that I’ve tried – it’s one of the diets that work effectively well. But my problem now, is really motivation in sticking to the diet and discipline in resisting sweets and delicious food. Add to that having discipline in working out. I just have so many excuses.

Somebody sell me some discipline! Any suggestions on how I could motivate myself to lose weight?

Diet Status Update

As of yesterday it’s been 7 days straight that I was able to ditch rice from my diet. So far so good. Although I still haven’t stepped on the scale, yesterday, I managed to comfortably fit into one of my pre-pregnancy denim jeans, which is a size 28. Today I decided to have 1/4 cup of rice. And since there are more occasions coming up that will most likely be an excuse to eat out, I guess I better find myself a good herbal diet pill to help me on the said occasions.

Getting Ready for the Summer

My cousin who has been in the US for almost 8 years now is dreaming of spending the summer months here in the Philippines to frolic in the sun-kissed and white sand beaches of the Philippines. But her big predicament is her love handles and curves in the wrong places. The problem with living in the US or in other countries with cold climate, is that you don’t get to sweat as much unlike when you’re in a tropical country. Even if you work out, breaking up a sweat is rather difficult. So my cousin is currently trying thermogenic fat burner to see if that helps. If she comes up with a good review for it, perhaps I’ll give it a try as well.

Resuming my no rice diet

no_rice_logoI know it’s going to be tough to resume my No Rice Diet plan, but I seriously have to go on a diet since there’s 2 wedding events coming up that I need to attend. I certainly don’t want to look fat and old in the pictures, besides Nathan is going to turn 3 in a matter of months and I so don’t have any excuse why I’m still fat.

It was back in 2003 when I first tried the No Rice Diet. I read about it in the local paper, in the lifestyle section of Philippine Star. Pardon me for not being able to remember the author, that would be entirely impossible given that it’s been 7 years. The only thing I remember about the article is that the author mentioned the Happy Cow theory (let’s talk about that in a different post), and that her doctor recommended she try this diet plan. She was told not to eat rice for two weeks. On top of that great ordeal, she was also told not to eat any sweets. Oh yeah that’s why the word diet’s first three letters spells d-i-e! :P Well, going back to the story, the author then decided to purchase sugar substitute and have her cook bake her goodies using sugar substitute instead. After 2 weeks the author lost 10 lbs. Read more…
