Battle Against the Bulge

A friend of mine who was desperate about gaining weight did gain weight when she bought a medicine from Chinese drug stores in Binondo, some time in 2006. She swears by the medicine and even our other colleagues who bought it also gained weight and were happy. I wish I have the same problem. Unfortunately, I’m at the other end of the spectrum. Despite their raving comments about medicines they bought from these Chinese drug stores, I’m still very hesitant to buy diet pills on those stores. Not because I’m discriminating them or I have anything pejorative about Chinese people or Chinese products. I guess losing weight is just more complicated as compared to gaining weight, thus my reservations.

I guess there’s really no short cut when it comes to losing weight the healthy way. Dang! It really means strictly adhering to your diet and exercise routines. One word: Discipline. Tsk, where do I buy that again?

Green leafy vegetables

greensMom and I are loading up on greens this coming week. Eating meat all the time should also be avoided. Vegetables are a good source of fiber, colon and body cleanse essentials that we should have lots of for a healthy diet and a regular bowel movement. Lately a lot of famous and ordinary people are being diagnosed with colon cancer. Help yourself cut back on medication costs, try to eat more greens. ;)

Sticking to a diet… sell me some discipline

scaleStepping on the weighing scale is something that dreads me every time for the past two and half years. After giving birth, I made a pact with myself time and time again that I will get back in shape and have my pre-pregnancy weight at 98lbs. Despite trying out different diets and even resorting to self induced vomiting at times, I still find myself off from my desired weight. I’ve written about the No Rice formula that I’ve tried – it’s one of the diets that work effectively well. But my problem now, is really motivation in sticking to the diet and discipline in resisting sweets and delicious food. Add to that having discipline in working out. I just have so many excuses.

Somebody sell me some discipline! Any suggestions on how I could motivate myself to lose weight?

Eat healthy, colon cleansing foods

fruits-and-vegetablesOver the last few years, several local personalities, both from show business and politics have died due to colon cancer. I guess the same can be said in other countries, because I have been reading a lot about colon cancer and how some countries here in southeast Asia are offering colon cleansing procedures at health spas. Some supplements also claim to help in the said process. Although those treatments may be widely available and acceptable nowadays, I’d still say that the best remedy is still to eat colon cleansing foods, fruits and vegetables tops that list. They are high in fiber and could really help in flushing out toxins from our system. Make sure you have a healthy portion of the said food group in your daily diet.
