This is one movie I’m certainly not going to miss. I am saving the date and will definitely make an effort to watch it in 3D. Kinda pathetic but I haven’t really watched movies in 3D. Yeah, either too little time or too lazy to do so. After all, it’s too expensive to watch in a movie theater, I might as well put my internet connection to good use and download movies at home.

Anyway, I’m gonna reserve seats for the screening to make sure we get a good spot. Can’t wait for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows movie part 1!

Last night, I braved myself to watch the Philippine movie premiere of A Nightmare on Elm Street at Megamall Cinema 6. I’m not really big on horror movies but I guess I’m completely bored out of my wits at home, that I found myself signing up for the premiere when Azrael asked for bloggers who might want to join the said event. I arrived at the cinema just in time to acquaint myself with a Plurk pal - Irene, it was our first time to meet in person, since she hails from Mindanao and is only here in Manila for a business trip. Anyway, shortly after we got to chat and munch on our popcorn and fries, the event kicked off with the national anthem, followed by a few trailers.

After the trailers, the movie started with a ghoulish music and intermittent images of old, worn out photographs of children. Shortly after that, the signature haunting song started playing…

One, two… Freddy’s coming for you

Thee, four…better lock you door……

I could still remember that song from the first Elm street horror flick back in 1984. I was too young (I was 4 then) to remember the story of the movie back then, the only thing that stood out was that song and the frightening image of Freddy. Read more…

Last April 13, Tuesday, I got the chance to watch the advance screening of Leonardo DiCarprio’s latest movie – The Shutter Island, at SM Mall of Asia. I was excited to watch the movie ever since I saw its trailer. I was actually under the impression that it was a horror flick.

The movie  is set in 1954 and is all about US Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) who was assigned a case in Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He, together with his new junior partner, Chuck Aula (Mark Ruffalo) were tasked to uncover the mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of one of the hospital’s female patients. The hospital is a facility created by the government to contain the most violent and dangerous mentally insane criminals.

Love Happens

Love Happens movie premiere was held at Cinema 2 of Robinson’s Galleria yesterday evening, which is technically just a few hours ago. Lucky I was able to ask Kuya Azrael for invites. The said event was sponsored by Viva International, Eastern Telecoms, Sharp, ConZace Vitamin C and Jam 88.3. The best part about the invite is that movie bloggers could bring along a date! Sadly, hubby was unable to make it in time for the screening so I had to watch it alone.

The movie was about a famous self help book author (played by Aaron Eckhart) who was travelling to Washington to promote his book, as well as to conduct an actual workshop of the principles he is teaching on his book.  He later on meets the lovely hotel florist (played by Jennifer Aniston) who has a knack for scribbling the most unheard of, profound words on secret places in the hotel.  Their initial meeting didn’t go well. The second meeting was nowhere near romantic given their shouting match at the men’s toilet. But the attraction started to build up later on as they both decided to give it a chance.

The twist came later on when Eloise (Aniston’s character) was able to unearth something about his past, which Burke (Aaron’s character) was unable to own up to for years. Of course, like all feel good romantic movie, it all works out in the end. It is a nice story spiced up with a witty banter from the characters. Oh and I love the fact that I learned three new profound words from this movie. Please watch the movie to find out just what are those 3 words. You’ll love the parrot as well.

This story tells us that despite not-so-good first impressions, nasty first encounters; despite the pretenses we all try to put on, despite all these, sometimes love happens.

It was a scorching Saturday afternoon and the hubby asked me to go with him at SM Marikina to purchase some things at the ACE Hardware. I said yes since he obliged to go to the wet and dry market prior to heading to the mall. It was rather unplanned. After almost three years of not watching anything in movie theaters, I all of a sudden thought of watching a movie to de-stress. We became so accustomed to downloading movies and watching right at the comfort of our own home in order to make good use of what we pay for our DSL, that we’ve totally abandoned our love for watching movies in the malls. On top of that we don’t have to put up with other movie goers who has a habit of talking out loud amongst themselves when watching a movie. But like what I said, last Saturday was different. I feel so stressed out in the office that I begged my husband to treat me to the movies.

We don’t have time to actually watch tv at home that I don’t know anything about the movies that are shown then. The most that I could do is to look at the movie posters and hope I get a good clue on whether it’s worth watching or not. So I chose one that my husband will get to enjoy too. He was rather surprised when I said I want to watch it because he was probably thinking I’d pick either The Proposal or The Time Traveller’s Wife. But remember I said I wanted to de-stress, and remembering those 2 people in the office that I so would like to blot out from the surface of the earth then and still now, I felt that watching the Joes take on their opponents will at least give me satisfaction, thinking that the cobras were Aling Mila and Nanette. Oh God sorry. I’m being mean.

So we went in early, so we could watch the trailers of upcoming movies. After several trailers, the movie finally started with a flashback. Ooops let me leave it at that, I don’t want to put spoilers in my blog for those of you who haven’t watched it yet, just in case there’s still some of you who haven’t. Anyway, after the flashback came the demonstration of what the Nanotechnology is all about and on to the signed business deal. After which came the fight scenes right away which kept me glued in to watching the story.

The Joes

The Joes rescued the 2 soldiers who survived the encounter with then “unknown enemies” during their attempt to recover the war heads.

The effects and the fight scenes are very impressive, considering the idea of having a gigantic safe house, base, factory, laboratory all rolled into one, in the arctic is rather futuristic and fascinating at the same time. Although with the advancement of technology, it is something that you cannot fully say far fetched.

Scarlet and the black actor (pardon me for being too lazy to google his name) make a pretty good couple in the movie. Scarlet is actually smoking hot and I’m sure a lot of guys out there would definitely agree. Over all, I would say it is a good movie, despite the rumors that the story has been changed. Nonetheless, I like the movie over all, it was a worth the money we paid for it and we will surely troop to the theater again if there will be a sequel to it!
